Glory Down The Line
Mon 13 to Sat 18 January at 7:00pm
Simone and Brayden are trapped. The bus is gone and the roads lead nowhere. Their only hope is a payphone with access to ‘the other side’.
The pair are strangers from opposite sides of the West Gate, both navigating recent tragedies, and they have found themselves in limbo. Literally.
Straight-line roads lead them in circles, strange lights appear on the horizon, and the temperamental payphone rings with messages coming from somewhere impossible. As they listen down the line, voices from the phone uncover the history of this eerie town which eventually lays bare the harsh truth lingering between the two strangers. With hopes to heal but stranded in country Victoria, Simone and Brayden are confronted with the ultimate decision: to stay or to change. Starring Julia Gasparini and Henry Stephensen, Glory Down the Line is a haunting new work that explores the intersections of fate, grief, and the mystery of the Australian landscape. Audiences will laugh, cry, question reality and contemplate the supernatural majesty of home.
Glory Down the Line is the premiere production from emerging artists Tully Jones and Ella Waterman (Bask Theatre). Respectively, they have earned accolades for writing, design, direction, and acting and together they create distinctly Australian theatre with a deep connection to rural landscapes and folklore.
