A Chance to Address the Amish Rumours

RAW Comedy National Runner-Up, 2024

Stephanie Hare grew up off the electricity grid without the internet, phone reception, TV, or even a fridge. When her mother was twenty-three, she left Melbourne, bought a donkey, and built a house out of firewood in the middle-of-nowhere Tasmania. Now Steph is twenty-three and she’s written a comedy show about it.

Her little brother used to finger knit harnesses and ride the goat like a horse; her father spent weeks living in a cave; her mother snuck into the neighbours’ paddocks at night to shear their sheep; and Steph thought that was all pretty normal until she moved to Melbourne.

This is a whimsical show that encapsulates the chaos and ambiguity of being a twenty-something, and how much Steph loves Instagram reels.

“Shocks, with sharply written punches to the stomach”- Maria Bamford, US
“A fascinating and unique back-story” – Chortle, UK

Warning: This show has little to nothing to do with the Amish but I am a big fan of their hats
